SF.

One of my favorite cities in the US, with its unique city layout, exploring the city is not like any other. I would highly recommend getting a day pass for the metro system there, allowing you to hop on and off trolleys and trains. Read through some of the highlighted neighborhoods to help plan a city route and be sure to check out the list of top places to visit while touring SF.

The best mode of transportation in SF is the trolley. You can purchase day passes for the Muni at a few different places. If you just want one ride my favorite one starts at the Hyde Street Beach platform and it goes up the hill to Lombard street, which makes a stop overlooking the city (as pictured above).

Fisherman’s Wharf.

While taking the trolley all over the city a must stop place is in the Fisherman’s Wharf neighborhood. There you can walk to see the bay, sun bathing sea lions, and grab some clam chowder at Boudin’s!

I remember the first time we came to this neighborhood when I was 12 years old. Boudin’s was just so yummy and I loved the view so much. The seals are so entertaining to sit and watch. This is also home for the Musee Mecanique where you will find the iconic arcade game Julie Andrews played with in The Princess Diaries.

Embarcadero.

Hoping on a train from the north side you can make a few stops that are key to experiencing SF. Get some steps in by making the trek up stairs to Coit Tower. Jump on the train and make your way to the Ferry Building and take a peak at the Bay Bridge that stretches into Oakland.

Financial District.

Take a stroll down Market St with your next destination being Union Square. On the way make a pit stop to grab coffee at my favorite coffee shop Philz (order it sweet and creamy) and catch a glimpse of the Transamerica Pyramid, a staple of the skyline.

Chinatown.

Must see spot in the city! When I was 11 years old this was the first place I ate sushi. Be sure to snap a picture of the Chinatown gate.

Nob Hill.

I love walking around the city and staring at all the architecture. Kown for being a wealthy spot in the city, the buildings definitely fall in line with that reputation. This area is up a hill from Market St and worth the steps.

Russian Hill.

Heading over to this neighborhood will mark off two tourist spots: Lombard St and Ghirardelli Square. Make sure to grab a chocolate treat as a reward for all the hills you have climbed.

One time when I was visiting I went to a Giants game and the ballpark is stunning. If you have time and baseball is in season I would recommend going to one simply because of the stadium.
